Trump announces US withdrawal from JCPOA

President Trump announces the US will pull out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). As justification, Trump references Netanyahu's Nothingburger - a ridiculous spectacle of lies presented last week by the Israeli Prime Minister [link].

Iran has had 11 inspections since the deal was signed and was in full compliance each time.

US has broken the deal on several occasions with their efforts to pressure Iran in various ways and is failing to honour an agreement they signed just 3 years ago. Something the world will take note of in future negiations.

Iran, UN, EU, France, UK & Germany have responded that they intend to honour the JCPOA....

Response by EU

Joint statement by UK, France & Germany:

“Together, we emphasise our continuing commitment to the JCPOA. This agreement remains important for our shared security.

“We recall that the JCPOA was unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council in resolution 2231. This resolution remains the binding international legal framework for the resolution of the dispute about the Iranian nuclear programme.“We urge all sides to remain committed to its full implementation and to act in a spirit of responsibility.”

Russian response

"We are extremely concerned that the United States is once again acting contrary to the opinion of the majority of states and exclusively in its own narrow-minded and opportunistic interests, in flagrant violation of international law," said the Foreign Ministry statement.

"Washington's actions are a serious violation of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action], they bring international discredit to the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency], which was proving its high professionalism throughout the realization of the JCPOA," the statement said.

Recent statement by Iranian Foreign Minister who brokered the deal on behalf of Iran

The ploy is to re-introduce sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

It will take up to 90 days to affect this new economic war. I'll update with details when available because I know everyone here cares about this as much as I do ;)

Iran's president Hassan Rouhani released a further statement saying that Iran will spend 2-3 weeks talking with Europe, Russia & China before making a decision on whether to continue working within the JCPOA framework. The JCPOA is an additional protocol on top of the NPT (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons).

The card that Iran can play is to beef up their inrichment and miltary research (missile tech etc) to basically troll Trump & his Jewish mates in Palestine.

Yeah I'll give him that. He's been more consistent than any other US president in recent years.

If you haven't seen proof Netanyahu's presentation was a nothingburger, you haven't looked. Even the NY Times has published an article debunking it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/01/opinion/benjamin-netanyahu-nuclear-nothingburger.html

There are many more statements from experts & officials disregarding his cartoonish powerpoint presentation. Here's a former IAEA inspector breaking down how ridiculous it is in detail (8:30 onwards):

Tip: How do you know when Netanyahu is lying?

- His lips are moving.

agree with you in that trump is getting far, and on korea this has been progress, but here he's going far in the backwards direction, getting further away from progress. if he says the iran deal is bad then fine, improve on it.

LOLOL The move was done. An executive decision was made which is OK when you review it........unless there is a move made with absolutely no PLAN whatsoever to follow. There isn't one. "I said it at my cheering rallies of Trumptards at every campaign rally, so I just did it" doesn't cut it. What will happen, will happen in a free-floating vacuum without any detailed plan in an effort to back it up.

He went against every U.S. intelligence service's information as well as those of our "Allies" and went with Netanyahu and his own extensive information. WOW.

The latest news (like it seems every day) is bizarre.

Shitshow defined.

Philip DeFranco commented upon this; it really shows the unstability of Trump, and therefor our country.  This is a clear message to other countries and leaders that the U.S. won't honor promises because a crazy Republican could win with the 2nd most votes and shit all over everything.  The U.S. is like an infant who promises to be good now for a lollipop but then refuses to go to bed when 8:30 p.m. comes around.
