Bodycam Shows Armed Suspect Running at Michigan Deputy Before Being Shot

Body cam and surveillance video have been released by Eaton County Sheriff's Office, which show a Michigan deputy shooting a suspect who was accused of stabbing a man over a dispute about wearing a mask. Eaton County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to assist the Michigan State Police in locating a male suspect who stabbed and caused serious injury to a person at the Quality Dairy store on Lansing Road in Windsor Township at 6:47 am, and had fled the scene in a vehicle. An area broadcast describing the suspect and vehicle was put out. At approximately 7:13 am an Eaton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed the suspect in Delta Township driving north on Jerryson Dr. and made a traffic stop. The footage shows the suspect, Sean Ruis age 43, holding a knife and screwdriver approaching the deputy, who repeatedly commands him to drop the weapon. When he fails to comply, the video shows her shooting several rounds before quickly clearing the jammed gun and firing again. Ruis eventually drops to the ground. Ruis was taken to the hospital and died during surgery. The involved Deputy, a 22-year veteran, has been placed on Administrative Leave.

keep shooting till the threat is eliminated.

if the threat is still standing it isn't eliminated.

having said that there are plenty of videos where a bunch of cops are throwing lead at a virtual corpse after it hit the ground a few seconds before. that's probably a tad exessive.

the moral of the story here is if a cop says get on the ground you really should consider making that a prority in life.

oh, that's a possibility.

could be on an adrenaline high and not feel the first couple.

i was hit in the leg with a small chunk of steel when i was chopping wood. didn't feel it but it gave me a limp for a while and was stuck in there till i went to the hospital and had it removed.

This is a relatively unknown truth about drugged up attackers. The effects of most gunshot wounds are delayed.

Unless you are lucky enough to hit the nervous system, people who fall down immediately after being shot mainly do so because of the psychological effect of being shot. If they are high on drugs or adrenaline or are extremely comitted to their attack they will ignore the fact that they've been shot and continue attacking you until their body is physically unable to continue. But this does not happen instantly. You could completely destroy someone's heart and that person will still be able to function for 20-30 seconds before inevitably passing out from loss of blood pressure. This is a terrifyingly long delay when said person is running and slashing at you with a knife.

It is perfectly possible that the first shot fired by the cop in that video was a "delayed" mortal wound like that. But at that moment there is no way to tell so the best thing to do is to keep shooting into the center of the mass in hope of speeding up the bleeding or hitting something important until the attacker stops being a threat.

That's why cops usually don't waste time shooting at legs like some ill-educated people may suggest they should do when their life is threatened like this. A shot to the central nervous system would have an instant effect but it would be completely unreasonable to expect anyone to even have a remote chance to hit such a difficult target in such a stressful and rushed situation.

Every shot the cop took were justified and props to her for so quickly and effectively clearing the jam that was induced by the guy grabbing her gun.

"Earlier today in Eaton County, Sean Ruiz a local handyman accidentally injured a person while working maintenance at the local Dairy store early this morning.  The distraught injured person stated that they were attacked while attempting to buy milk products in close proximity where the maintenance worker was attempting repairs.  The worker fled the scene in a confused panicked state,  where bodycam footage shows his freedom being challenged by licensed murderers who celebrate their kills with footage from mounted cameras on their person.  The worker died at the hospital, reportedly of COVID-19. The murderer was given a paid vacation for their kill."

Again a nice little proof how inefficient handguns are in this kind of scenario, the perp almost got the cop.

10 TEN shots fired BY A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL, hard to say how many were on target but way less than half is my guess.

An AT-4 or a Carl Gustav should have been used against the vehicle immediately. We gotta get military on psychos.
