I thought I had witnessed one of the dumbest people alive but after some research I have found out that the conical mandrel at the top actually expands when you pull on the handle and we just can't see it well on this particular video.

and is this for jewelery? because expanding a finger ring is done by cutting it and welding gold inbetween
