this is somewhat of a myth. Their economic plan wasn't that great & they got into a bunch of debt. After looting what they could in Germany they needed to expand to keep the party going.

I think you're confusing socialists with liberals. Western Liberals are capitalists & typically are imperialist.

In 1949 the adult literacy rate in China was under 20%. It stands today at over 97%. US adult literacy is 79%.
When Mao came to power China had average life expectancy under 40 yrs. By 1980 it was over 60 yrs.
China now has higher life expectancy than the US since US had 1.5 years shaved off it by their mishandling of the pandemic. China's prioritized people's health, as you'd expect from a decent government (general well-being & all that) whereas US prioritised the stock markets because it's a country built by & for the landlords.
Sure the Chinese commies killed a lot of their own people, some as part of their 2 cultural revolutions but mostly through gross negligence but they've fine tuned their system since then & it's humming along okay now. Mao was a great revolutionary but pretty hit & miss with governance & some of his bold plans were fucked.

There's something you need to understand about fear as it applies to males in my family. We actually struggle with a lack of it - we are all oriented towards problem solving action. Fear is something of an alien to most of the males on both sides of my family, with some exception. This isn't necessarily a good thing - the last man who was lynched in Canada was my great uncle. He deserved it.
