It makes sense to go for an "Influential Victory" as an alternative to democracy.
It can help combat echo chambers by deciding the election by most widespread influence rather than population density and traditionally more partisan "Stronghold States"
Still not ideal as it's even less direct democratic, but can be a decent aggregate of widespread country opinion.
