Ukrainian Boeing 737 plane carrying 180 passengers crashed near Tehran International Airport

A Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800 jet with 176 passengers on its way to Kiev crashed after taking off. There are no survivors. The plane appears to be on fire as it's descending. An investigation is underway.

It comes hours after Iran launched a missile strike on air bases in Iraq where US and Coalition troops are stationed.

What is the connection between the flight and Iran, did it depart in iraq?

Maybe it was hit in the wing by a missile

It departed from Tehran, Iran's capital city, & only flew a few kms before crashing.

It happened hours after the missiles were launched, far away from launch sites. It's the 3rd time this model plane has crashed since 2010, the other 2 were malfunctions during landing. Unsure who else.

Edit: I've seen a SkyNews report saying shrapnel damage was seen & the blackbox stopped working mysteriously mid flight, not that SkyNews is very credible. On board were 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, 4 Afghans, 3 Germans and 3 British nationals, according to a tweet by the Ukraine Foreign Minister.

Doesn't look like there will be any open-casket funerals in relation to it. Conspiracy theories have obviously begun already but strangely, I haven't heard any yet.

Whoever accidentally shot off the surface to air missles is definitly a goner. And his whole family probably, too.

Public hanging by construction crane for the lot, as usual?

-------

I saw one where they had a special truck for hanging folk, with a crane on the back and some stairs. It looked heavily used.  Such a beautiful county and a great government in Iran, It'd be nice to visit.

Want to see one where the hangee is begging to see his mother one last time?

You can hear the mother yelling back at him from the crowd as they beat him and hang him from a shoddy device, denying his last wish to see his mother's face one last time as he dangles there and the crowd gets their fix.

It's sad.

CBS crew on the site reports that during the night all the major wreckage from the crash site has been removed before foreign investigators arrived. No signs of investigators or barriers. Wreckage has now been brought to another site where Ukranian investigators have access.

Civilians and soldiers have been seen picking up pieces from the site(scavenging).

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau say intelligence suggests it was shot down by Iran.

Iran is refusing to hand over the black boxes to Boeing, but instead eventually Ukraine.

Iranian officials suggests that the plane being shot down was "scientifically impossible".

The crash site area is so wide, it is very probable that pieces fell off the plane before it hit the ground and unlikely to be the result of engine malfunction, according to specialists.

Another video shows a projectile hitting something followed by an explosion, and an investigation group says it is very likely to show the flight in question: https://twitter.com/bellingcat/status/1215352457972404226

Iran is refusing to hand over the black boxes to Boeing

Boeing is not allowed to be involved due to the sanctions on Iran.
