Open Prisons Where They Learn Tech Skills

A system like this would be a great idea for a good portion of the inmate population. But there has got to be be some types of prisoneers that you simply cannot trust enough to put in an environment like this. The kind of prisoneers who as soon as you give them a chance will do things such as try to run away, attack people, start fires, vandalize property or downright smear their own faeces everywhere. You still need somewhere to put these kinds of people because they will continue to exist. Maybe mental institutions would be more appropriate for these special cases?

Imagine if one of these guys raped and killed your wife or kidnapped your child, raped her for months then killed her, and then you see them going to college and taking dips in a lake driving home during the weeks, using VR and just having a grand ole time. Would that sit right with any of you?

Steal some shit from a box store, tax fraud, or some shit like that, sure, have this reform prison, but that is NOT what they are saying in this video.

Yes but ppl in Europe arent that fucked up, and prisoners here get mental health checks, if there is something wrong they go to a psychiatric institution.

Yes! They are comparing apples to oranges! I was going to say something like that but decided not to. Everyone wants to compare the USA to Europe but you cannot, there are many systems lacking and not in place in the USA that Europe has and what works in Europe may not always work in the USA.

Focus on rehabilitation rather than incarceration and punishment. Good approach.

Probably there are places for people that can't be trusted within this system, however, I would think this is a small minority, probably most will be in psychiatric care.

Of course the way this has become an industry in the US and how education works there they would struggle immensly to create something similar. And of course the will isn't there at all.
