yeah but it's an incomplete study. there is an assumption of quality because top quality stuff lasts for ages and looks good the entire time. if they continued it for even only 6 months the low quality would start showing and the reputation would go straight back down.

Ok. This is one of those things where I just feel smarter than others because I've already evolved. Like religion. We know there is no god, we have evolved to explain why we used to think there was, but now we have the full picture. Yet there are tons and tons that still believe and waste energy on the matter. As time passes there will be less and less of those people as they also get smarter.

The same thing applies to this crap. I don't need an experiment to know that a brand pair of whatevers is not worth the freaking money. People pay for status and whatnot and yet here we are, making these videos like we've just invented the wheel. This is not news.

This is how branding works which is based on psychology. Maybe this situation is a little more obvious for some but brand affects people's decisions without them even knowing it. Think about how you pick your car, tools, laundry detergent, phones. There are better more affordable options out there for every case.

Check out the value of top brands right now:

Another way to think about it, is if all of Apple's stores and factories burned down and there was nothing left, in one year the company would still be worth $300 Billion.

My favorite as of late though, is the most recent studies which have shown that wine taste better the more you pay for it. So if a person gets greater pleasure by paying more for something, are they being hoodwinked? One could argue that you need to pay more so you will enjoy the product more.

Well acctualy there is a god, the very first consciousness that became self aware, but it lives like a human among us or on some other planet, it created everything we see on its own amezement by accident almost, it found its power trough infinite time and now it is just a human that can forget everything if it is reborn, so yeah just basicaly just human

Now how much did ABC get paid for this extra long payless ad?

Fashion items don't really count in the value for money segment. The chinese rip off will alst equally as long as the original versace handbag.

Value for money lies in workmanship.

Take the example of automatic watches. I have a bit of e fetish for mechanical watches, so I own 5, none of which are Rolex, Breitling or IWC.

I have one "Fashion Brand" Chrono, from Raymond Weil (Amadeus), which I purchased about 20 years ago (and still would work fine if the watchmaker wouldn't have ruined it during maintenance, as it has a standard movement I will change it one day) as a special offer for GBP 450.
I also own a Revue Thommen Chrono Diver's watch I purchased for way under 1000€

Both these watches share the SAME movement with Breitling watches

I also have a Seiko and 2 Invicta Diver's watches (the latter have a similar design to Rolex' Submariner) each of which cost me about 100€)

The Seiko I had for more than 15 years and never had a problem with it, it is not as accurate in holdingtime as the others, though. If they break I simply replace them.

I was considering buying a limited edition Submariner as they "hold their value" but decided against it as I don't have the discipline to take off my watch during car maintenance or other manual work so the watch would only come out on special occasions in order to keep the value.

If I decided to buy a car from the VW group it would be a Skoda or a Seat, not Audi or VW (exception is Porsche, and only 911)

So the quality criteria for me are:

is it up for the job

will it last

I don't care much for added value by brand name.
