You are thinking in terms of a conventional war with two equal players. Ukraine is the underdog, higher standards are expected for the larger aggressor. Imagine complaining about Geneva conventions when the towel heads were cutting heads off of American POW's or Charlie using booby-traps on Americans in Vietnam? Kinda stupid.

you got a russian army comprised of conscripts and a resistance comprised of volunteer citizens. the majority of those involved are not professional soldiers. some are there because they have to be, others are there because they feel they have to be. you're going to find the same treatment on both sides

I have to agree. There is no need to humiliate enemy combatants like this. Invaders or not, most of these guys didn't ask to be there and didn't sign up for this kind of 'special operation'.
