What China did badly was decieve the world about this. (If they didn't outright trigger this.)
Nothing wrong with stocking up and cutting exports to make sure you have a population to protect.
But why lie about it.
When the President cut his exports of medical goods what did he say. "The masks, we need them." (As cases in U.S. balloon.) People didn't like it, but it was straightforward and true.
The point I want to make is. We have plenty of bones to pick with China. Just pick the right ones.

Correct. Like I said, China's specific wrong doing was not keeping everyone as accurately informed as possible.
Why they haven't done so. That's what we don't know yet.
Why they stock supplies, is irrelevant. It's fine.
But if you have to lie about a basic human motive to survive it makes me wonder why do you have to lie about something sane and rational people can accept? What else are you doing?
I think it's all about the GDP race.
