Today: We are saving 100'000 lives by embracing lockdowns and doing what the government decides for us.
5 Years later: Listening to the government destroyed millions of lives and collapsed the global economy plunging us into a great depression, Oh, and we listen to the government now more than ever because they keep us safe from the flu. 5 years is a long time to think about how for months america got to watch as china was burning at the begining of the global pandemic and the months that followed as it spread across america and they did nothing. then in 2021 and 2023 people who make less than 75k will have had their taxes increased because of trumps 2017 tax cuts. in 5 years, people aren't going to be blaming those who tried.

China is still burning, they just have an enclosed system that keeps us from seeing it. And the few dissidents that report it are decried as fake news, cause it's not Chinese official (Or because people value believing they are correct rather than believing the truth.)
How many lives are worth sustaining liberty? Extermination beats slavery every time. So 7 billion and change adjusted for population inflation will always be a suitable price. Without freedom there is no life worth living. With Hitler you got the extermination and the slavery, without freedom.
Now, if everyone stopped trying to remove rights from others to prop up their own causes, we would never come close to paying the price of total population. Look at the black death. More deadly by factors, no medical knowledge, no sanitation, limited immune response, and a way more retarded population. Only burned through about 60% before burning itself out. The covid death is less than 2% under your more fear mongering models.
But if people do support having personal liberties removed, then the price of total population slavery is an inevitibility.

Now you may wonder, why believe in something as rigid as "Freedom at ANY price?"
Because there is no shortage of creativity from authortarians on how to enslave people.
But if you make freedom more valueable than anything else, then you can never be enslaved no matter what scheme is concocted.
As soon as you give up a right, you have failed, and the number one goal is reverse that completely.
If you still don't get it, then you are better off dead metaphorically speaking because you are a liability to the human race.
