Masks only work in a specific situation, which is a short interaction with someone who is infected, think a doctor visiting a patient, or maybe a trip to a convenience store.
Wearing a mask while inside for a long time actually increases infection likelihood, because exhaled breath gets around the edges of the mask, and more of it goes up into the air than if you weren't wearing a mask. These breath droplets of course after time fall back down again right in front of people's faces. Japan has been using masks since well before this whole thing, and they're the most frequently sick people in the world. Can attest to this personally, it's ridiculous, people get sick then come to school or work anyway wearing a mask, and week later a third of the entire room is sick and the floor gets shut down. Seriously, every year with the flu and whatever colds are going around. Masks don't help the general population going about their daily lives one single bit. The 75% effective quoted in this video is from a hospital study, ie doctors and nurses coming into a room for a short time only.

You wearing a mask will not stop you from getting infected, but it will stop you from infecting others, if you keep distance and wash hands that is, a mask on itself does nothing but it can help

Doesn't do much for the wearer if noone else is wearing them but it certainly lowers the amount of water droplets that a wearer expels. Those who don't think so are simply complete fucking morons and if they endanger others in closed spaces, they should be beaten with a blunt object. Period.
