Back when the Congress actually gave a little shit about the people they are supposed to represent and abide by the Constitution, they passed laws regulating the telephone industry and put them into the public utility category which prevents them from creating monopolies and violating the rights of its people it supplies its services to. For the last 20 years the ISP's and big tech have been fighting to stop it from happening to them and slowley they have been gaining more and more power as a monopoly. Thats why it was a big deal that Biden held a private fundraising event at the CEO of Comcasts home the night he announced his bid for POTUS, also thanks to AOC, we found out that all new members of Congress are obligated to attend and orientation event hosted by the ISP's, ensuring that NO regulations will ever be brought up against the monopoly of the ISP's.
We now have social media giants working hand in hand with (and owned by) goggle and server space providers like Amazon, to snuff out competition. The same reasons the telecom industry was made a public utilty back in the 80's is the same reason people who pay attention are calling for the same to happen today with the ISP and the big tech of silicon valley.
