Ignoring the controversy about how confessions are sought and the tragedy of false imprisonment for a minute, the prison system as such I find very effective. People are there for a reason, why should they have any amenities or restaurant quality food? Everyone has the chance of having privacy by behaving. They also have the opportunity to educate themselves.
