i have something like that. 2 car garage with no room for cars and all the toys. takes years and thankfully people kept giving me tools. seriously though it gets to the point where you have a bunch of stuff that you have never used.

Be patient and you'll get there.

I have a 65sqm garage, 1.5 stories high, just bought a car lift. Unfortunately I had to rip out and redo the concrete floor as the old one was not good enough (this cost me more than the lift itself, btw). So now I can change oil or brake pads and do other work under the car in a comfortable position, which is important at my age.

I have a good selection of Makita 18V tools, professional tile cutters, table saw and many other electic and other hand tools, air compressor, welder, plasma cutter. All bought over many years and used to save money on bad builders.
I never needed a plumber or joiner or brick layer and electrican only for work that needs a license. I only spend money on installers for windows, A/C and other installation of high value items that require certified installers to validate warranty.

My advice is get high quality tools that get a lot of use and abuse (like battery powered drill, angle grinder etc.) make sure to get all battery powered tools of the same manufacturter, ONLY buy original batteries, get medium or lower quality tools for work you do less often.

I live in Norway... the cost, unimaginable unless i move way out of the city, that's a hard one. Now if my Uncle would let me take over my late grandfathers workshop it would be a start. But i expect he's going to raze it and repurpose the property. So much history there...

Sad really, respected the hell out of my grandfather... hell, the only real man in the family on either side me included. You know, the strong old silent bearded kind....

Well this became emotional :P
