Clearly at least one citizen does not have that fear.

Betrayal is universal.
Pedophiles should be put down. They are sick, and their sickness has destroyed innocent children.
Thieves. Generally once a thief always a thief. Taking freedom in exchange for the time and energy they stole by taking what doesn't belong to them is generally a balanced punishment. It doesn't usually stop them, but they exchange something more valueable than money, That is time. If they want to spend time stealing, then they should expect to pay that time back.
Besides. Thieves are usually miserable. Broke asses with no real friends or anyone to turn to. That jewl thief on the Tube will be the first to tell you that when he made a professional score, he had to spend it fast so he wouldn't caught with it. Which feeds the cycle.
Drug dealers? They provide a service people want. Drugs shouldn't be illegal to begin with. Though, excessive use should be discouraged.
Treason though. Endangering the freedoms of the masses. Shaking faith in the democratic process and eroding at the fabric of society. A precedent must be set for that.
A precedent so harsh that any who are thinking of trying now, will see that they have everything to lose from such endeavours.

Day after election he gave Trump a 40% chance of taking office. He's lowered the probability to the point where he's comfortable making a prediction. He has him at about 25% now which is the same as me. It doesn't much matter at this point. A process is underway with a likely endpoint regardless.

In the deveoped world we have ID, proof of citizenship and proof of residency all in one document, that keeps "voter fraud" to those few that are not registered dead at time of election or maybe serious criminals with expertly forged documents and thus to an absolutely insignificant number.
But the fear of an ID keeps that from being implemented in some countries. No wonder considering the irrational fears of 5G or "masks that are introduced to control people" or "vaccines designed to implant a chip".
