This is what happens once people get rich or to power: "do as I say, don't do as I do" Of course they feel they are too important to waste their time like the plebs do and "their" plane only does very little looking at the big picture.
Here in spain we have 2 recent leftist jerks serving as a nice example:
Current president, Pedro "el guapo" ("the handsome" as my wife calls him) Sanchez promised elections, after the rightwingers had to give up due to corruption, should he be put in office. But, naaaaah, the seat is waaay too comfy
Leader of the far-ish left PODEMOS ("we can") party Pablo (no, not Julio or Enrique) Iglesias, famous for his bad haircut, working class heritage and the phrase that he will never leave his barrio ("hood") quickly decided to buy a nice villa in one of the best areas of Madrid once he came to national fame as he "does not feel his children can grow up and go to school safely" where he came from.

I've got another one from Quebec. This one is kind of funny because it made the headlines and backfired hard for her:
Catherine Doiron is a politician who was recently elected to the National Assembly of Quebec. Before that she was broke as fuck. Her previous experiences were a few acting jobs here and there and writing a few crappy books. She tried to maintain the image of being the champion of the poor, showing up at the Assembly dressed like people of Walmart and openly criticizing a government project to build a much needed new bridge for Quebec City. She said that it only increased the population's reliance on polluting automobiles and bragged about not owning a car.
Now here's the kicker: As soon as she got elected and finally received a decent paycheck for the first time of her life she used it to buy a car. But not any car. People would have probably forgiven her if she chose a cheap basic subcompact to get from point A to point B. But no. She bought a fucking mid-range SUV.

Only 150K miles. Guys living in NA and working with United Emirates or China fly miles like that, just not so many trips.
Space X is HQ in LA and Tesla in San Fran. Not sure what the other part of the triangle is or for...
Also, if you follow his working habits while building the model 3 in 2018, it's brutual. The guy had like 6 hours/day for free time and that needs to include sleep. So shaving an hour off his trip each day or couple of days was probably much needed.
I say, if you are a billionaire and have a shitload to do and flying a personal jet helps you save some time, then so be it. Not for me thanks.
