I had a real hard time stopping myself from laughing when they got up in my face and started yelling. Shit was funny as fuck. I did what I had to do and listened very well, so they stopped fucking with me pretty quick when they realized I wasnt a fucking wimp. They do this shit to the wimpy or arrogant fuckheads.

So basically everyone gets a turn, and those with precious little egos get bonus rounds. I imagine it builds a certain resistance to distraction.

Is it true that a very low percentage fail bootcamp? Obviously some do it twice, but from what I hear almost no one gets to LEAVE once they sign up.

And the three swarming like buzzards at the end, amazing.

For sure! I watched a guy get choked slammed by a DI after trying to run away and he still went on for a few more weeks, then he threatened to shoot us all and had bullets in his locker and we still had to deal with the dumbass, only for another few days after the threat. There was an guy who could barely do a fucking push up, looked like a typical Indian kid at engineering school, always bragged about how smart he was and how high of a score he got on the asvab, gave up half the time on our runs, and yet he still graduated. I knocked a kid out, for "reasons" too long to type, and I was threatened with this and that, in the end the first seargent said he had to say all that shit becuase the punk kid's dad was some high ranking fuckwad. I dont know, I think they really dont give a fuck who passes as most are just bullet stoppers anyway. This was infantry school in the Army, not the marines, btw. Same probably goes for there too though. I had a guy I knew from highschool who went into the marines and this kid was kinda wimpy and really short, they made him a flag/color carrier. Not sure what the fuck he ended up doing, lost contact with him.

Man, I will never forget the amount of times these fucking kids cried at night wanting their fucking moms and shit. So many regretted their desicions in the first few weeks. I was happy to get 3 fucking meals a day and clean clothes! LOL. I had a fucking blast there. When you go from sleeping under bridges and eating at hope houses to the military, you can handle it! Plus I was in jail a few times by then, faced 7-10 yrs in prison for stabbing 3 guys, got beat up by cops and shit, lived in a juvie home for 2 years, lived on my own at 16. So yeah, a guy yelling at me wasnt going to faze me at all.

I visited my brother in November. He was in the marines 89-97. He mentioned sometimes he would see some guys that shouldn't be in there.

Overall, with marines if you don't make the cut they roll you back into boot camp again. They'll keep you in bootcamp hell your whole 8 years if they have to. But if you're not medically discharged you'll get it right after a second run.

My dad was drafted into the Army during Vietnam, But only stationed in Germany.

He had a 56 inch waist at the draft, so they threw him in the pork chop platoon. When he came out he was about 170 at 6 feet. He always kept a pair of his pants from his fat boy days. My mom found them once when she was cleaning and she asked "Who's pants are these?" "Mine." he replied. " Shocked mom asked "Why do you have them still?" "To remind myself."

Yeah going into the military is in the family, sort of. My father and all my uncles except 2 who went to Woodstock, went to Vietnam. Lost one over there. My mom kept all of her brothers medals and stuff. He died holding down a sniper for his platoon. The governor of NY came out to give my grandmother his medals and she went off on him blaming him and the government for killing her son, it was all in the newspaper too! My father and my uncles volunteered to get better jobs as opposed to getting 11 bang bang grunt bullet stopper job. One died early from agent orange complication, that one joined the marine corps and went through some shit. Im kicking myself for never recording his stories before he died.
