Uh-Ohhhh....Game Industry Narrative BTFO

Makes sense to me. How many of you got your first taste for free, but since then became a fan and spent much more than the cost of the initial freebie?

It's about 50/50 for me. I generally buy them for different reasons, sometimes the only reason is that the pirated version sucks.

This is correct for gaming, I guess, but video and music are a different kettle of fish.

I stopped paying for music and video because of the ridiculous margins and salaries in the late 90'ies when Robby Williams made this ridiculous record record deal.

I pay for independant stuff like Luis CK.

Pretty much how it goes for me. 10 years ago I used to pirate all my games, but now I'll just couch up the doe if I see something I like. Guess I've become more paranoid of viruses and it's a big fucking hassle for me to reinstall everything. Also a steady income helps so it's not a big investment to throw some money at games once in a while.

When it comes to movies I'm a cheap fuck. I'll patiently wait till someone uploads a decent copy, even when it's a movie I'm really looking forward to. I've seen so many shitty movies that I've just lost all faith in Hollywood.
