So.. with my job I've hung out with a bit of these celebrities as well, backstage etc.. there's always a story about how they're assholes and they don't care etc.. but every time I hear that I never listen because it's never been true. Yes they have to be in a good mood on camera, that's entertainment folks.. but if they're having a shit day, or something goes wrong, it's them that looks like an asshole on camera, so they could get mad at someone. Most of these people are very detail oriented because - again - it's their name, they're the ones in front of the camera. So someone that fucked up their coffee might get berated... but the hosts mom may have just died, but they have to put on a shit eating grin and talk about bullshit pop stuff.
It's entertainment. On camera they're not allowed to be unhappy. It's the same with on stage or anything. In the publics view, you're there to entertain them and they will have NO sympathy if you're having a bad day.
