I love the game and all but I find that the less human they make Doom Guy and the more "gothic" they style some of his armor and weapons as if they weren't made in the human world the less it feels like the original one.
I liked the feel of it better when it used to be just a very angry space marine with human-made weapons and equipment fighting demons. It drives the point that humanity has become so great with its technological advancement that it can rival with badass creatures. It also makes the doom guy more badass as he's just an ordinary human pulling all of this off.
Now he's just become some sort of alien superman in human form using weird alien weapons. It's just not the same.
