I saw something about this too. Amazon still has them for sale, AND there are reviews from like 2-3 years ago saying they suck and people immediatly had scary issues.  This will be interesting.

"Curiousity killed the cat."

It is curiousity that killed all these people. I guarantee that none of these individuals even had so much as a diving certification, and they were all outside the physical athletic conditioning required for that type of aquatic activity, with insufficient experience in using advanced equipment in a potentially dynamic and deadly environment. And all of them were probably all alone in that environment without anyone more experienced than them when the incident occurred.

Wait, so they guy is saying the mask is why she died with absolutely no evidence that supports that hypothesis?

Get fucked.  He wife was fucking old, she could have died for any number of reasons.

From what I can see the design is very reminescent of a modern gas mask. The mouth and nose are in a cup with one way valves so when the wearer inhales the air comes inside the visor first before entering the cup through one of the valves. When the wearer exhales the air exits through another one way valve directly outside of the mask. This prevents fogging and carbon dioxide buildup and somewhat cools the wearer's face.

Now the problem with those is that if the one way valves don't work properly none of this happens and you suddenly have something very dangerous on your face. I'm not saying that this is what happened there but it is a likely possibility. Especially with loaners and Chinese knockoffs present.

That is correct. I bought one from the original designer a few years ago when they came out and I hated it.

A normal snorkel is just an open tube from your mouth to the surface. nothing to it.

This thing is a couple of one way valves and is more akin to breathing through a scuba mask.  I had a couple of freak out moments when trying to clear water that had leaked in. tried to pull the mask off and it suctioned to my face and wouldn't come off until I remembered to break the seal from around the side towards the back of the mask.

I returned it and went back to normal snorkels.
