We have a few dialects that can be hard to understand but it's just a few words here and there that might cause problems.

Apparently theres a a hint of truth in this sketch. I bet it's like an american trying to undertand a thick Irish accent.

Someone in the YT comments:

About a week ago I came home from the states, been abroad for 8 months and on my way back to Denmark I saw two dudes in the airport and immediately thought they were Swedish by their looks. Later on I took the terminal train with them and was trying for 8-10 minutes to figure out what language they were speaking to each other. First I thought they were speaking Swedish, but something just didn't sound quite right, so maybe they were from some northern part of Norway and that's why the weird dialect? I just couldn't figure it out when I suddenly realized they were speaking danish to each other and they were my own countrymen! burst out laughing because it immediately made me think of this video all while they were looking at me probably thinking I was crazy.

Sketch was made by some legendary Norwegian comedians who rightfully so are horrified by how difficult danes are to understand even though we share the exact same written language and most words. Danes are notorious for just going off in danish full speed when talking to either norwegians or sweedes. With that in mind, this bit was born.....

Finnland has a completely different language, not even scandiavian afaik.

Yeah Finnish is totally it's own thing.

Closest relatives to the language are Estonian and Hungarian. Hungarian is gibberish to us but Estonia we can make some sense of.

same with the dutch and swedish i understand some of it if i realy focus, but then there are dialects like limburgs that i do not understand completely, in my own country :)

And limburgs even use rules for grammar rules that corresponds to chinese, one word means more then one thing depending how you make it sound, just like chinese.
