LOL, posting memes as such is not against facebook rules. Considering that even neo-nazi content exists on fb you probably had more than one complaint about more than one "meme" and/or did severely personaly insult people or groups of people. Possibly your "meme(s)" was (were) regarded as hate speech and/or call for violence or worse.

It was one of the popular memes mocking the MA'AM guy from the Gamestop freakout video. It was being circulated on many other joke related websites but the second I shared it in the comments of a friend it triggered a three day suspension.
The ONLY reason for banning the joke meme was because it made light of a tranny. If FB is going to start censoring jokes for one particular group because it is politcally incorrect to JOKE about them, well they can eat a bag of dicks. If FB wants to censor posts then there are multiple other platforms I can use that do not censor posts, to include Spiked Nation.
The really aggravating part that sealed the deal was that the three day suspension applied to FB Messenger, something I had come to rely on to keep in touch with my wife and parents. Why in the fuck should something on the public FB side effect my ability to use a private messaging app? So I ditched both and signed up on Skype instead.

Relying on messenger for "private" issues is rather stupid, it is fb after all. I use whatsapp or e-mail for these things anyway.
