insecure westerners love hearing about draconian shit in china, no matter how fake it is

you're a prime example tbh - you're so dumb you believe it all at face value & when you repeat the crazy shit you hear as if it's true it just reflects on you.

what's just as stoopid is thinking your opinion makes a difference.

NZ's covid policy was barely anything like China's & the conditions are completely different.

What NZ did I'd say was maybe like 5%-10% of the level of precaution China has taken & about the same level of expertise in terms of governance was put into it - sloppy is an understatement when you compare NZ's response to China's.

The time when NZ got the big wave - late 2021 - was during a kind of phased opening up.

Just because both were branded as "zero covid" doesn't make them the same.

Thing is nobody here really knows how China does it. I just know some bits n pieces from speaking to people there & watching the stats n stuff but don't wanna try & explain. You could get clues if you paid attention to the Olympics.

Thing is they still don't really have the option of a phased opening up unless they want to let tens of thousands, possibly millions of people die. The elderly vaccination rate there is still quite low, around 50-60% whereas for everyone else it's up around 80-90%. Their health system is still not as developed as somewhere like NZ/Aus either. With the way this virus mostly kills old people you could say that these sacrifices they're still making during their little outbreaks are mainly to protect the elderly. It's not something that people there tend to grumble about but when the govt fucks up like the Shanghai govt did they have a lot to say.

Funny thing is that westerners looking on think "why is the govt doing so much" when most people there are demanding the govt does more, in the case of Shanghai it was like this - people were super pissed with how the govt waited 2 weeks longer than they should have & then announced a lockdown with 3 hours notice. There are also some grumblings about not being allowed to self-quarantine when it makes more sense to do that. Overall though people are quite satisfied with how their govt's handled it all. Shanghai cases are back under 5k per day now & they should be able to open stuff back up soon. It was really just the first 1-2 weeks of their lockdown where people there were complaining loudly about how their local govt had messed up. They're now into a phased opening up.

You say "it hasn't [worked] at all" ... I dunno how you can say this when they have under 10k deaths total. They prioritised people's health above all else & carried out an effective plan. Obviously it worked & is still working, with a small hiccup in Shanghai (mainly caused by local govt not carrying out the policy properly).

dude, i'll keep this short and sweet cause to be honest i'd rather drink half a bottle of scotch and play fallout 4 than argue this shit and to be blunt i'd even feel more productive.

soo, in closing if that's what you think cool, we will certainly find out.

once again, good luck.

You realize that he is only capable of thinking in absolutes, right? China state propaganda reports only 10K deaths nation wide, then that is absolutely true in danny boys mind. He takes all chinese reported data as truth inviolate. He is truly and breathtakingly thick.

Actual Covid deaths in china are likely higher than 1.7M. Keep in mind that the lower classes of which china has hundress of millions, have no real access to medical care and just die without a diagnosis.

I don't think there's aything to argue about tbh.

Under 10k deaths total for a population of over a billion speaks for itself.

The only people bitching about China's covid policies are westerners, the vast majority of whom have no clue what they're talking about.

clowns like Timmy here will choose to believe some lame western propaganda regardless that there's no substance behind it but who cares tbh. It's just their coping mechanism. Self-delusion's a hellova drug.
