The only fully awake Christian in that movie is this guy's twin brother, Paul, who appears at the start of the film for about 5 minutes and then is out of the picture. But this scene should be seen in it's entirety - always - and even though Paul only shows up at the start of the film here we see that Paul is key to the ultimate resolution of this film:
One other thing - if you ever see someone like Daniel Plainview bong 26 ounces of hard liquor while under severe psychological stress, locate the nearest exit and proceed to it.
