No problem with them defending their property. Those people were trespassing on private land. It's good no shooting had to happen. I would think hunkered down in my castle packing weapons is the better way to go rather than presenting a nice easy target to get sniped but to each their own.

If there is an angry mob trespassing on your property and the cops are not going to help you, I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to defend it as well as your own life yourself with reasonable force. Which is what they did by using a show of force.
The only thing that rubs me the wrong way about them is that they clearly have no idea of what they're doing with these firearms and were being downright dangerous to everyone around them including themselves. Get some proper training people!
