If China deals with the corruption in many of their target countries they might actually help Africa become a civilized continent decades before the current turn of the century estimates.

been thinking the same thing recently. a lot of blame was put on white colnizers, but then everything there is still pretty much the same as when they left, as in they're using the same trains, roads, lines, and other facilities, they haven't extended or improved any of it, or even bothered planting any trees. the only thing there's more of now is war.

Of course it might be that China gives exactly two shits about Africa as a whole and is only fishing for votes in the UN for whenever they deal with China' behaviour in the South China Sea and elsewhere where they push their borders into neutral territory. *shrug*

the difference is america's rich want to make money off the government, but in china they are the government, so the goals are different.

China is becoming the new British East India Company. They're throwing money at these small countries with high corruption as loans and basically take over parts of the country when they cant repay. Here's a really interesting article on how China basically owns a port in Sri Lanka after they couldnt repay the loans.
