Just another proof that pretty much all the civilian targets the russians hit were deliberately chosen.

It takes a lot of training/experience to hit targets with mortars, especially on the first round. There's a whole team of people that tell the mortarmen where to aim and do all the calculations and sightings for them. Most of the time the firing team are way off in a hidden area and dont even see where the rounds are hitting.

My last year in the military I was transferred to a mortar team from infantry. I was not certified but I fired off a bunch of rounds. We had 3 different calibers, the biggest one the 120 mm could hit 5-6 miles away. The 80 3-4 miles. The smallest one you could just aim by line of sight with your hands and lead your rounds to the targets, like launching grenades.

one would expect the russian "elite troops" to be adequately trained as well. Also most of the targets were hit by more accurate weaponry.
