Might come in handy for a large hostage rescue or some other special operations mission.

In Battlefield 4.

Put silencer, Flir, and bipod on a Type 88 LMG. It's stupid fun once you get the bullet drop down.

200 rounds of suppressing fire.

It makes the shooter more difficult to locate by the enemy as the enemy will hear the sonic crack from the bullet along its path but not the "thump" from the muzzle blast from where the shooter is. It usually isn't cost effective for regular troops but you'll see those with special ops.
