Other, its acceptability depends on what you're receiving the award for. If it's ground breaking work in humanitarian aid or hospital building or critical documentaries or so on then definately press the issue. If you're getting an award for producing another dime a dozen shitpiece movie or album or similar then go fuck off you pretentious prick.

Here's the deal, the audience matters. If it's an Oscars speech, and you know the Academy is full of auto-fellating jackoffs, then you know it's just a giant circle-jerk of self-congratulatory moral posturing.

 

But if it comes from a position of careful thought, analysis, self-deprecation, and humility, then exceptions can be made.

 

I always say: argument against self interest is the only type of argument I accept wholly at face value.

They can say whatever they want. In the case of Hollywood, the more extreme the better. Hollywood is a cesspit & hopefully the grip those tapeworms have on movie distribution is broken some day.
