Wuhan Jiayou!

Wuhan residents are all locked indoors & sending encouragement to each other by shouting Jiayou!

The literal translation of Jiayou means “to add fuel”, which could mean you should refuel to keep going. Or, it could be translated as “to add oil”, as in adding oil to a flame to keep it burning or to strengthen it.

Jiayou In this context is cheering - Come on, we can do it, hang in there. It means a lot in Chinese unity.

When I went to a UFC event in Shenzhen the crowd shouted it when Chinese fighters needed a boost.
