I don't know. I had really high hopes and expectations for the movie but it didn't live up to the graphic novel. I guess it probably couldn't have. I hope this is good but it looks too over the top to me from the trailer.

I respect your opinion, but disagree. Here are my reasons why!
First, the ending in the movie was sooo much better than tenticle monster from the graphic novel.
Second, I actually thought it was a very page by page adaptation. Beside the ending, it is almost shot for shot.
Third, they also used almost all the original dialog.
For me this is one (if not the best) adaptatoins I have ever seen.
Curiously, do you know any other movies that are really close to source material, in case I missed them?

I agree the ending was probably better. I think it just felt rushed to me. It didn't feel like there was passion put into it. I almost thing the trailer looked too good and put my expectations too high. I have a friend that does editing on tv and movies and it sounds like the amount of money and effort they put into trailers these days is huge compared to the movie itself. I think it was almost the downfall of the movie that it followed the key scenes almost verbatim, but it doesn't suit a movie. I had read V for Vendetta to, and I think that was one of my favourite movies. Some don't think it did the novel justice, but as far as being a movie goes it was great.
