I Thought Mexico Was Paying For the Wall Tho??

At the time of recording we have been at a partial shutdown for 17 days, at time of upload we have been at a shutdown for 19 days. All over funding which was supposedly going to come from Mexico.

Sorry if this makes this life sketchy for your cousins, but the concept of illegal immigration was completely uncontroversial until Trump took office. All the people acting as roadblocks to this wall now are on tape stating the same common sense arguments for it that Trump does. This is quite obviously a pissing match between Dems who hate to give Trump a win because it both complicates their dealings with the extemists in their own party and undermines the perception of their power amongst the general public. There is no good reason to shutdown the government. It's a dick measuring contest over a common sense issue, and it's completely on the Democrats to stop posturing and start doing right by the (actual) citizens they claim to represent. If they don't, he's just gonna win in the end anyway, so maybe they'd do well to save face by looking like they give a shit about the people who put their lives on the line to protect the border, the people who die when border protection fails, and those who have not yet been affected but may be in the future.

If they don't, what is their platform? We love illegals more than citizens? That is increasingly becoming the perception.

Hey buddy, I value your input and participation in the conversation. I specially like your little jab at the beginning, where you mention my cousins. Good one.

You say that the concept of illegal immigration wasn't a controversial issue until Trump took office, which I have to call bullshit on for the fact that it was also a hot topic during the Obama administration, specially when he pushed DACA through. All of a sudden there were all these accusations of "amnesty" and what not, although it was really just a response to the fact that the right blocked the Dream Act. In fact it's funny that the right acts like Trump is suddenly the only president in the last decade to be fighting against illegal immigration when Obama's Administration was known for having deported more illegals than the two administrations before it. The difference here is that Trump's administration has taken a stance where empathy has been completely elimiated from the conversation, and all illegals have essentially been placed in the same camp as MS-13 where the Obama Administration sought to limit illegal immigration while accepting that Dreamers have lived here their whole life, and were essentialy Americans in every way...other than on paper, and so he sought to fix this through the Dream Act. When the Dream Act failed, he pushed DACA.

I agree that shutdowns are nothing more than pissing matches. Honestly, but to say that this pissing match was started by the Democrats is rediculous, specially considering that Trump has already claimed full responsibility for this shut down, and while appearing incredibly proud of it. I find it funny that the right is pushing so hard for this wall at a cost of 5.7 Billion when 1) They didn't want to pass The Affordable Care Act because 3.4 Billion was too expensive, and 2) Trump promised he coiuld get Mexico to pay for it.

Also the idea that democrats are coming off as loving illegals more than citizens is ludicrous, they simply don't want to waste 5.7 Billion to build a wall which will have only a negligible effect on illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

I do wish the right would keep this energy up though when it comes to the topic of gun reform. 325 or so mass shootings last year, but here we are worried about a wall which will do dick to stop anything.

Trump previously offered DACA in exchange for the wall. The Democrats, refusing to give him any kind of win, let those people hang. Again, the controversy is manufactured. Obama was for barriers. Nancy Pelosi was for barriers. Chuck Schumer was for barriers. Hillary Clinton was for barriers. Suddenly, they're not for barriers. Barriers are immoral, or they're too expensive, or they're ineffective. It's all bullshit. This is common sense shit that the people holding it up already agreed to and made arguments for. It's common sense shit that every person working on the border is asking for. It's common sense shit that places where there already is a barrier support. The only people who don't support it are the illegals themselves and people with some political axe to grind.

Damn son! You're still complaining about Trump's election campaign .... 2 years after he got elected? Democrates would've had a better chance of legalizing illegal immigration, then trying to stop this wall. They should run on that in 2020.

The GDP of the USA is somewhere near 17 times that of Mexico! I think EVERYONE understood that Mexico was actually going to freely write a blank check to the US. Enter the trade wars....
