As one case in point, the destruction of Buenos Aires is presented as an attack by the insects but underneath it's implied that it may be just a natural disaster exploited as a passive false flag or maybe even an active false flag. A society that has its prosperity driven by War needs a never-ending supply of it.

no it's very clearly shown in the movie that the meteor came from the bug system. it's the same one that nearly destroys carmen's ship, taking out their comms tower meaning they can't tell earth that it's coming.

THAT'S just what the disgraced former Sky Marshall deep state intelligence service told the Citizens and the army. I'm really just kidding around a bit here. You can interpret it differently though - just because the meteor was not on any charts and came from that general direction doesn't mean it wasn't a natural event. In any case, if it wasn't a false flag it's still hyper-similar to 9/11 (which I've always felt was a "let it happen" event). Perhaps the meteor was detected, but nothing was done....

the message i always took away from it was how easily the masses are controlled, and how quick everybody is to get on board without question. the kids stomping bugs, for example, is as ridiculous as getting people to support war by calling their fast food "freedom fries". no-one asks "wait, how does this help?" and if they do then in any case they aren't questioning the whole premise or actual reasons behind the call to war.
