What about this: I've been stuck in places without my cellphone(or use of my cellphone) and no money, no way of getting home, etc. Its fucking scary, even for a dude like me who's been every where, fuck I've been homeless, spent nights out in the wilderness lost, traveled the country with no money etc... This girl must have been freaking out over that prospect, especially now how everything is done on your phone, booking and checking in hotels, airline flights, getting cab rides, contacts, etc... Most people nowadays would be completely fucked if they lost their phone while on a vacation or traveling. Mix in social media and I can understand this girls freak out. Yeah I think what she did was fucked but come on, she's a little girl, this dude is doing this shit for either money or for show and the media is jumping on this like a pig in mud.

'this dude', you mean the father. I do hear his concern. I agree with you that losing one's phone is tragic now adays would normally be very sympathetic but she is basically calling his son a thief and a liar with no evidence. If she started calmly asking then I may have supported her but by the time we see her, I would just walk away too. I've been treated like this before and from experience, I would be half expecting that if he showed it to her, she would grab it then when realizing it wasn't hers, throw it on the floor as punishment for not listening to her right away. We shouldn't support this behaviour.

I agree, she's a little brat. BUT, they are calling for some pretty harsh charges. They could've just laughed at her and stiff armed her. But now they are trying make this into a whole race thing and get a movement started. Look at the civil rights attorney the guy hired, and for what? MONEY!!! Thats what. They probably want to sue the shit out of the hotel.
