Victoria used to look like this every fall before the yard waste collection systems. It seemed most people thought a bonfire should consist of a pile of wet leaves smoldering for a week or so. If perchance the fire started showing signs of flames, slightly reducing the amount of smoke billowing off, they'd rush over with a wheelbarrow full of more wet leaves and dump it on the flames.

It makes for some awesome sunsets though.
