An objective analysis of recent times

This was a funny and eye-opening video.  It runs completely contrary to the Republican framing that everything is terrible (and that only they can fix it).  In 2016 thousands, if not millions, of Americans believed that they needed a "revolution", either through Trump or through Bernie.

While Bernie was actually talking about making things better on specific fronts, Trump was mostly using empty rhetoric as a power grab.  But a revolution away from what?  Things are going pretty well, even as much as I'd like to paint Trump's America as some sort of hellscape, it's just not true; I have access to the greatest tool humanity has ever created, I can travel across 90% of the world, and I can advance myself as far as my skills can take me.

This was a very uplifting upload.  5/5.

Interesting. I'd like to see someone argue against his conclusion. He didn't go into much detail about the happiness metrics & it assumes that dishwashers & things make the world better.

He makes a good point about climate change. Industrial solutions seem to take a backseat in the discussion. So far it's mostly been treated as a power grab.

I also noticed the birth mortality rate for the United States specifically isn't shown when he talks about that...I don't think we've done well in that arena.

it is very slightly higher but on that graph it wouldn't be noticeable. pinker's graph shows percentage chance whereas these days in most places it's so low that it's usually shown as chance in 1000. most modern countries report about 3-7 under-5 deaths per 1,000, in the US it's about 7.

he went into detail about dishwashers and things a little after that, about how the number of hours we all need to spend on housework has declined from 60 hours pw to only 15.
