I remember watching a video about this guy and I looked into his case a little. I'm on the fence with this one but leaning towards believing him. NY has some fucked up self defense laws, you basically have to run away if you can and can never go on the offensive for it to be self defense. Being that old dude was a lawyer I bet the prosecutor and judge wanted to throw the book at this guy no matter what. All you have is this guys word, no other evidence. The prosecutor said he robbed the guy but nothing was missing and there was no evidence he was robbed. Sounds like victim blaming to me. The only other person that could refute his claims is fucking dead, so yeah, cant read minds so we kinda have to go with what he said happened, its plausible and pretty common. Probably could've charged him with negligent homicide and it would fit as he beat the guy and never called for help. But murder just doesnt fit.
