This is Laurel Hubbard, a 41 yo weightlifter. In his mid-30's he transitioned to she & continued lifting, breaking records, winning competitions etc. This injury happened last year, he's had surgery & is again identifying as a female weightlifter at the Arafura Games in Darwin next week.
The New Zealander - the oldest of the 207 weightlifters at the Games - became eligible to compete as a woman after showing testosterone levels below the threshold required by the IOC.
