the enemy of leftists (socialists) afaik is the capitalist ruling class & they have the goal of reducing/removing their power & getting at least some of it to the workers, generally.

people outside of socialist countries who call themselves communists are a mixed bag.

CPC are socialists & the party ideology is still officially communism but don't ask me what that means. They seem to be heading more towards a traditional Chinese dynasty at this point but using Marxist-Leninism as a base instead of an imperial config.
