Trump surrounded himself with sycophants. Even Dr. Fauci doesn't correct him in public when he spreads misinformation, puting the lives of people at risk to avoid embarrassing him.
The crucial difference is competence & the willingness to face reality & handle business. PRC govt gave it straight in January that this was gonna be bad & to brace while launching a "people's war" to smash the virus. They turned off their nations economy & told all officials that the health of the people is the top priority. Your leader tried to bluff his way through it & put the stock market above the health & long-term wellbeing of the country. A foolish move because the health of the people IS the long-term wellbeing of the country. This should be obvious to any competent leader.
FYI I have similar greivances of my own govt. All of our govts have really cocked this up & are still wasting time. It seems we're incapable of winning this war. I think in our case it may have been a deliberate policy of herd immunity from the start, just quietly.
