many medicines cure a disease they're targeted for, but also cause other effects on the body. sometimes these other effects are so serious they're as bad as or even worse than the disease they're supposed to cure. the same is true for vaccines. historically, live vaccines have a much better track record than non-live with all-cause mortality, so it's especially interesting to compare covid vaccines because both live and non-live been widely used.
it turns out that the mRNA vaccines, namely pfizer's and moderna's, cause mortality through other illness at about the same rate they prevent covid mortality, mostly through cardiovascular problems.
tl;dw:
the covid vaccines cause death from non-covid disease at the same rate that they prevent death from covid.

Could it also be possible that the vaccine isn't causing all the cardiovascular issues, but the virus itself isn't being completely destroyed or is resisting the vaccine in the cardiovascular system where it wreaks havoc on the victim? Or possibly the immune system is seeing the vaccine as a virus and attacking it, causing inflammation from the immune response?

an mRNA vaccine doesn't contain any virus and the vaccine is taken before virus infection, so the first suggestion doesn't really make sense, but your second one is absolutely possible and maybe even likely.
