They last about 4 hours each & can be re-used if you leave them in the sun for a week. If you can get N95 ones, even better but surgical masks should be enough for roaming around in public. Should take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
If you hear of any cases in your region it's time to mask up. There's about a 2 week lag on confirmed cases so if you have 1 you probably have dozens. A HK doctor's study found 40% of cases are spread by asymptomatic carriers & China's top epidemic expert says assymptomatic carriers are more infectious because the virus is more concentrated in the upper airways. It can be spread through talking and breathing. If you're in a hot zone you may want to wear eye protection too. Ski or swimming goggles work.
