I liked Asteroid City and his Rudyard Kipling shorts, but this gives me more French Dispatch vibes, and I disliked that quite alot. Ever since Grand Budapest he's been leaning heavily into his 70's art comic stylings and it's causing him to hit and miss more than he used to.

Even if the movie has a nice story & cast, the style is still so similar to the 10 last movies he's done that it becomes boring. The novelty's really starting to fade.

You're all right about the absurdist style of the films getting boring and repetitive. I personally hate the later ones cause the actors are pretty much winking at the camera. But that screencap! Who ever knew an older Benicio Del Toro sporting a mustache would wind up looking like Clark Gable..
