Moral of the story: Don't fucking play with "reconditioned" firearms for clicks.

The rocket was faulty and the re-activaton is what propably saved him. If it didn't have the weak point, it could have gone full pipe bomb.

"...the re-activaton is what propably saved him."

I skipped through parts of the video, did they actually say that? There is NO WAY anyone could claim that!

Yes, they said that.  If the tube becomes blocked (what most likely happened here) then the gases have to vent somewhere or the whole launcher might explode.

Here they explain what most likely caused the failure  16:23  - 19:55

I did a superficial search on rocket launcher accidents and couldn't find any reports of them exploding in one's face other than those reporting on this guy.

I think they are sweet talking the "result" of this "experiment" to themselves.

Yeah could be that they are sweet talking the results...but the explanation they give makes sense if it actually became blocked.

Would be interesting to know what kind of pressures are inside the tube when it works as designed. Everything is vented out the back, so I'd imagine it's not that much.

Well, we would have to define "blocked" the thing was firing out both ends and not only "into his face" and the round also started moving after all.

They define it on the video. Part of the booster detaches and blocks the back of the tube. That doesn't mean it can't initially fire from both ends till it gets blocked.

Started looking around for failed RPGs too, I found a compilation where there was one clip that was just like this. Just labeled "bad rocket" no other info. Some middle easter guy firing a RPG (shocker) and it knocks him down just like here.

In order to make an experiment repetitive the parameters have to be defined, I.E. blockage in the sense of effective reduced area and force required to remove it.

If the video wasn't one of a military operation I would guess it is very likely a reconditioned gun too.

Never thought I'd miss fullauto in a discussion, lol.....

If you'd make such an experiment, really the aim should be to determine what kind of blockage would blow it up. I keep hearing that just cleaning the tube is important for safe use of the weapon, so it doesn't become blocked, so I think there is something to it.

Just guessing but I think de-activating and then re-activating is done more in western countries with all the regulations (just like they make some automatic rifles to semi-fire only) and in "less developed" countries would actually have more of the original package, but who knows where they get these things. Most likely old Russian stock.

Rookie use of "reconditioned" explosive ordnance--untrained while in full cosplay regalia. Very lucky. Glad that guy is OK...........much better vid if it detonates in tube with the high-speed photography though..
