It really is pure gangsterism, isn't it.

Is it though? Is it really? If it is, does it concern you? What do you think Putin is worried about?

Sure, it resonates with me. I still got family living in Europe in a civilized first world country whose much larger eastern neighbor routinely threatens to gobble them up. I don't like the way Ukraine's friends are crying foul..but Ukraine stands alone. And I've long suspected that beautiful little Greece will one day stand alone, also.

Meanwhile over here we don't have real problems, so we fabricate them, to pass the time.

They only thing scares me that Putin has lost it big time. I mean super paranoid, everyones-out-to-get-me kinda paranoid. If he hasn't already, he might turn that way with the whole world condeming his actions and he keeps just doubling down.

I'm from Finland, so a border country with Russia and not in NATO. Our relations have been good with with Russia for a long time, but who know if Putin snaps.

Yes, and now you've got an external power trying to dictate your foreign policy to you, which is nice.

Uh huh - guess what Psaki suggests is Putin's problem? Can't wait for you to guess - she said it's likely "Isolation from COVID" or a 1/8 step away from saying that Putin is suffering from Mass Formation Psychosis.

I don't think you have family in Western Europe, or if you do I doubt you give a shit about them. You're a pretender.

Ignoring the idiot above me... Good old resident spiked psychoanalyst on the job attempting to get someone - anyone - to engage.

Anyway I hear you.  Russia remembers pretty well what happened when they tried to take Finland before, however that could mean they would simply use a different strategy.  His vague warnings to Sweden and Finland for joining NATO have been the same as always but now seem to be more desperate.  The Swedish think they'll make a move on Gotland as well, since over the years they keep coming closer and closer with their military and pushing the edges, not sure if they've been poking Finland in the same way..  sadly it seems nothing's off the table at the moment.

Is that what that is.

Yeah, I think it will get worse before it gets better.  And Putin seems prepared to take it to the wall. I'm seeing images on European news of an elite guard (paid mercenaries, basically) who are poised to get their piece of the action. And the biggest fear is that tomorrow's certain-to-fail talks will only serve to justify in the Kremlin's eyes, an even more agressive offenseive. This will not be pleasant.

WWII was a miracle for Finland, small nation against the red army, but some how our grandparents pulled it off.

It's a different ball game now, though. When you have stockpiles of missiles, theres no need for full-frontal assault that we can fend off with machine guns.

Now there's been a huge advocay for joining NATO here, for obvious reasons. Before the majority were against it.

Don't know if I like it. I'm thinking a big reason why Putin attacked was that Ukraine was planning on joining. Putin held a long ass speech before the attack. Mentioned NATO 40 times, and said Russia cannot accept that Ukraine joins NATO because it would give them a bridgehead to Russia.

What happens when Finland starts to talk seriously about NATO and Putin starts to feel a bit paranoid when the walls are closing in?

One thing I know for sure, Putin would prefer "neutral" border neighbors.

Damned if I know. For the video to be out there you know that Putin is using it to send a message.
