Let's hope this is an incentive to train officers properly before they are let loose on the public.

idk i didn't think this was too bad behaviour wise. he made a mistake with regards to private and public property, but besides that he was very calm and polite, and tazing a suspect fleeing from arrest is pretty standard. that said though not knowing the sidewalk is public property is pretty bad, and mistakes such as that usually cause escalation.

An officer of the law needs to lead by example. That means they must be aware of the laws more than other citizens. A person fleeing from unlawful arrest has the same status as a person fleeing from a criminal, they (arsehole or not) are 100% in their right to do so, the cop had no right whatsoever to arrest them. 

 

Probably in the US it is different but in other countries police do have authority to remove people disturbing the piece from public places.

You need to be right when you're enforcing the rules and upholding the law otherwise you're just abusing your power.
