Huge asteroid travelling at 21,000mph set to have 'near miss' with Earth TODAY. An asteroid will pass between the Earth and the moon tomorrow, just three days after it was discovered.

The rock, named 2017 YZ4, is believed to be up to 15-metres in diameter, and will travel at more than 21,000mph.

According to The Watchers, it will pass at a distance of 139,433 miles of the planet - close enough to be considered a near miss by astronomers.

The asteroid will be the 52nd to pass between the Earth and the moon this year, with the last having happened on November 21.
