Confucius is an iconic ancient Chinese philosopher whose thought flourished during the Warring States period, an unsettling time in Chinese history. Confucian philosophy has inspired David Moser, a sinologist and linguist who began his research on China in the 1980s. He tells CGTN's Tian Wei, for Confucius, the notion of happiness is not really a matter of sensual pleasure, but something of a collective phenomenon.
